Where does it make sense to splurge on decorative items?
It's so particular to each project, but I advise my clients to splurge on the one-of-a-kind piece they will treasure forever
What is the quickest way to personalize a space?
Invest in a presentation of family photographs, current or vintage. Spend time at a studio or a printer altering the photos by cropping them or enlarging them or changing the tonality and then compile them into a coordinate group
Do you have a design trick?
A large rug always makes a space look bigger because it forces the eye to the perimeter of the room. I also use mirrors or clusters of mirrors to reflect light. A large piece of art such as a landscape on the wall can draw the eye and change the perspective.
Who is your ideal client?
A person who has a particular point of view or who wants to complete the project on a specific timetable with a starting point and goal. It doesn't matter if you are uncertain of your style: part of the fun is figuring that out.
Do you have a favorite materials?
I like to layer textiles such as leather, silk and linen within a room. I do the same thing with furniture by mixing wood, glass, metal and stone within a space.
